Bob L. Smith

Bob L. Smith, 85, of Omega, died peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at home in Omega, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Watonga Church of the Nazarene. Bob was born on June 24, 1928 to Buford McClellan Smith Jr.and Winona Elizabeth (Stock) Smith at their home in Omega. He grew up in the Omega community and attended Oklahoma State Univ. where he met his wife Susan Stetson of Neponset, Ill. Bob and Sue married on June 16, 1954. At OSU, Smith obtained a double major in mathematics and physical education, with a minor in social science and a Master’s degree in education administration. In 1950, he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the US Army reserves. He completed his military career as a Captain in the USAF reserves. Bob lived in Sacramento, Calif., for sixteen years and was a secondary mathematics school teacher for 20 years in Calif. and Oklahoma. He spent the latter part of his years happily farming in the Omega Community. Smith placed his hope in Jesus Christ and over the years served the church in many and various capacities. He is survived by his wife; his brother Dr. Buford Smith and his wife Eva of Colorado Springs; and four children: two sons Stephen Smith and wife Sandy of Franklin, Tenn.; Warren Smith and Rosa of Omega, Okla.; two daughters: Suzanne Johnson and husband Adrick of Enid, Okla., and Kathleen Stoltzfus and husband Tony of Redding, Calif., and 13 grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Vivian Juanita Perdue of Omega.
