Lady Eagles Win at Final Tune-Up Before Regionals

The Watonga Cross Country teams are peaking at the right time.

A week away from the Regional Cross-Country Meet, the Lady Eagles took first place at the Chisholm Meet on Saturday, October 7. The win gave the Lady Eagles their first top-finish on the season as four Watonga runners placed in the top-15.

“[The girls] ran well as a whole team,” coach Jim Bob Coleman said. “I think my girls this team, with how we ran Saturday, have as good a shot as anybody to win the State Championship.”

Entering Saturday’s meet, the Lady Eagles were ranked No. 3 in Class 2A with a chance to get the better of the No. 6 team in Class 4A, Bethany, and the No. 2 team in Class 2A, Hooker, who both had finished high than the Lady Eagles in previous meets.
