District Champs

The Eagles capped off an incredible run to win their fifth straight game and sixth game in their last seven games as they defeated Sayre 47-21 to win their first District Championship since the 2010 season. In 2010, the Eagles finished district play (2A-1) with a 9-1 record overall and 6-0 in district play before losing in the first round of the playoffs to Crooked Oak 46-34.

However, this season, the Eagles finished district play with a 5-1 record and a 6-4 record overall, and if not for a late collapse against Merritt in their first district game of the year, the Eagles would be 6-0 in district play. In the end, the loss proved inconsequential as Cordell defeated Merritt 38-12 to help the Eagles secure the District Title. The 2017 Watonga football squad will get a chance to write their own playoff story starting this Friday night against Okeene as Watonga hosts the Whippets in the playoff opener at 7:30 p.m.
