Geary/Watonga Wrestling Teams Ends Season at State

For the first time in Oklahoma Wrestling history, the top-five seeds from each Regional qualified for the State Tournament, meaning 140 of the best wrestlers from Class 3A competed in Oklahoma City this past weekend.

Five of those wrestlers came from the Geary/Watonga wrestling team, however, only one placed at this year’s State Tournament. But, the one wrestler who placed, Senior Kendell Johnson, won the State Title at the 160-pound weight class, giving the Geary/Watonga team its latest state champion since Ross Shawnee in 2015.
