This report is for the period from April 6th through April 19th. During this period the Geary Police Department issued 7 written Municipal or District Court citations.

On April 6th at approximately 9:00 am Geary Police officers conducted a check on a vehicle that appeared to have been abandoned behind the Cherokee Restaurant which is located at Highway 66 and South Walbaum Road. Officers learned the vehicle identified as a 2002 GMC Sierra had been reported stolen out of the City of Sayre and was entered into N.C.I.C. Officers and dispatchers worked with the Sayre Police Department to complete the recovery for the stolen vehicle and it was impounded to be held for the registered owner to come and pick up. Officers have no suspects and ask if anyone has any information regarding who may have abandoned this vehicle to please contact the Geary Police Department at 405-884-2167.

On April 8th at approximately 11:49 am Geary Police officers were called to a residence located in the 400 block of South Rock Island to take a report of an attempted burglary and some stolen property. The owner of the residence reported to officers that someone had attempted to break into their home while they were away running errands. The victim reported whoever had attempted the break in damaged their door but were unsuccessful in getting into the house. The victim also reported someone had stolen several power tools from underneath one of their car ports but is not sure if the two events are connected. Officers have no suspects and continue to investigate this incident and ask if anyone has any information regarding it to please contact the Geary Police Department at 405-884-2167.

On April 12th at approximately 6:19 pm Geary Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near South Broadway and East Main Street with a vehicle that was speeding. The vehicle refused to stop for officers and began to elude and attempt to get away from officers. Officers pursued the vehicle onto East Main Street to Southeast Boulevard and onto South Countyline Road with speeds reaching up to 50 mph. The suspect vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign at South Countyline Road and Southeast South Street and went east out of the City Limits of Geary on Highway 270. Officers pursued the suspect vehicle on Highway 270 at speeds up to 110 mph until the suspect vehicle reached North Walbaum Road where they attempted to turn from Highway 270 onto North Walbaum Road where the loose gravel caused the suspect vehicle to lose control and get stuck in the drainage ditch. Officers took all three occupants of the vehicle into custody and impounded the vehicle. Officers issued a female passenger a Geary Municipal citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and released her from custody. Officers also released a male passenger without any charges being filed. Officers arrested and booked the driver who was identified as Justin Taylor Leslie into the Blaine County jail on numerous traffic related complaints to included eluding an officer and speeding.

On April 10th at approximately 11:00 pm Geary Police officers served an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Municipal Court for the City of Geary for John Ryan Birdshead of Geary. Officers made contact with Birdshead near West Main Street and North Aurora for violating the City of Geary curfew and he was arrested without incident. Officers issued Birdshead citations with a Court date and released him from custody.

On April 16th at approximately 4:05 am Geary Police officers were called to a residence located in the 300 block of Troxel Drive to take a stolen property report. A resident reported to officers that some of their prescription medication had been stolen. The resident provided officers with the description and amount of medication that was stolen along with the identity of a possible suspect. Officers continue to investigate this theft and ask if anyone has any information about it to please contact the Geary Police Department at 405-884-2167.

On April 18th at approximately 1:46 am Geary Police officers conducted a traffic stop near Highway 281 and Britton Road with a vehicle that was not maintaining its lane of traffic. Officers made contact with the driver who was identified as Jonietha Daria Huntley of Midwest City after originally providing officers with a false name. Officers learned Huntley was driving with a suspended driver’s license and the vehicle she was driving did not have insurance. Officers also located several controlled dangerous substances in Huntley’s possession to include marijuana, pcp, and ecstasy. Officers arrested Huntley and she was booked into the Canadian County jail on a complaint of providing false identity to officers, multiple traffic complaints along with multiple counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. A passenger in the vehicle received Geary Municipal citations and were released.
