Randall Base is the incumbent seeking reelection to the Geary School Board. He has served since 2000.

Base has two children who are graduates of the school district. During his tenure the board has upgraded the lighting and scoreboard at the football stadium. Cement surfaces and security systems have been improved and new computers for labs and students have been purchased.

There have been purchases of a new ag department truck and trailer and two new activity buses. The district has also added a passenger van and a 14-person capacity bus.

The parking area at the Stegall-Long Field House has been improved and the softball field has been upgraded. Additionally, there have been smart boards and three-D printers added to various classrooms and programs.

“Supporting the schools is something I am very passionate about,” Base wrote. “I would like to continue to be involved in the progression of our school.”

The election had been scheduled for April but in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, it was rescheduled by the state board of elections for Tuesday, June 30.

Cecil Harrell

“I really care for this community and want to take that initiative, lend my hand in making school decisions ”

Cecil Harrall is a candidate for the Geary School Board. Born in Weatherford, he moved to Geary in 2009 and joined the police force in 2010. In 2018, he became chief of police. He has also served as a Little League coach and a mentor.

Harrall said he is running because his generation needs to step and lead the community. He believes the two recent bond issues show the school board isn’t listening to voters, running a nearly identical issue after the first was defeated soundly.

Harrall has four children who are in the school district.

“I really care for this community and want to take that initiative, lend my hand in making school decisions,” he wrote. “All my decisions will be based on the best interest of students. I promise to make informed, unbiased decisions, to help our schools move in a positive direction. The children, all children, not just my own, are Geary’s future. I would like to be part of helping to make their future,” he wrote.” The election was rescheduled for Tuesday, June 30.
