Oklahoma State University is the state’s first four-year public research institution to announce a scholarship based solely on GPA.

Faced with COVID-related financial strains and challenges in the college application process — including the inability to take the ACT or SAT — high school seniors and their families now have an option for pursuing scholarships based on GPA at Oklahoma State University.

“As a public land-grant university, OSU has always prioritized access to education opportunities,” said Kyle Wray, vice president of enrollment and brand management at OSU. “Our intention is to create new and innovative avenues for our students. We’re acutely aware of the effects this pandemic has had on students and their families, and we want to offer additional ways for accessing scholarship funds at a time when students need it most.”

This comprehensive program also considers an in-state student’s financial need in addition to meritbased scholarships.

Like many universities nationwide, OSU recently notified prospective students that it revised the admissions process to be “test-score optional,” in reference to the burden COVID has placed on access to taking both the ACT and SAT.
