Seven Class Members of ‘20 Win Lions Club Scholarships

Each year the Lions Club presents multiple scholarships to graduating seniors at Watonga High School. This year the club handed out some $5100 to worthy graduates. They include:

Kaitlynn Kalicki, daughter of the late Brandon Kalicki and Shanna Kalicki, is the recipient of the Don Justice Memorial Scholarship given by the Lions Club in Watonga. She is a member of the National Honor Society and was involved in the Scholastics Tournament of Champions for 2 years. Kaitlynn plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and pursue a business degree.

Noah Hightower, son of Brian and Kristyn Hightower, is the recipient of the George Russell Memorial Scholarship given by the Lions Club in Watonga. Among his many achievements in high school were Tournament of Champions Scholastics, National Honor Society and honor band. Noah plans to attend Oklahoma State University and double major in computer science and business. Lavender Cisneros,

Lavender Cisneros, daughter of Alnathan Wilson and Daniella Lucero, is the recipient of the Mike Cunningham Memorial Scholarship given by the Lions Club in Watonga. Among her many honors and awards were National and State Honor Society, plus titles in basketball, softball and track. Lavender plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and study nursing in order to become a certified nurse anesthetist.

Wade McCrary, son of Justin and Maryl McCrary, is the recipient of the Byron Wolfe Memorial Scholarship given by Lions Club in Watonga. Wade is a member of the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society and received awards for his abilities on the football field. He plans to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall to obtain prerequisites for the college of veterinary medicine.

Halie Elston, daughter of Randy and Charity Elston, is the recipient of the Mike D. May Memorial Scholarship given by the Watonga Lions Club. Besides being a member of the National and State Honor Society, she received many awards in track. Halie plans to attend OSU-OKC to receive a degree in cardiovascular sonography.

Madison Vaughan, daughter of Miriam and Christopher Vaughan, is the recipient of the Weldon Poarch Memorial Scholarship given by the Watonga Lions Club. She won awards because of her involvement with the Academic Team at Chisholm Trail Technology Center and with the Watonga High School Powerlifting Program. Madison plans to attend Southern Nazarene University and study nursing.

Emma Hussey, daughter of Ty and Kodi Hussey, is the recipient of the Elks Scholarship given by the Watonga Lions Club. Besides being a member of the National Honor Society, she received awards in basketball, softball and track. Emma plans to attend Murray State College to attend their vet-tech program.

Watonga Lions Club wishes all the graduates of the 2020 class much success in their plans and aspirations.
