Yellowbank, Parham First Recipients of Cupp Family Memorial Scholarship

The inaugural recipients of the Doris Lewis Cupp Family Memorial Scholarship for the 2020- 21 academic year are Ariayna Yellowbank and Nathan Parham. Both are graduates of the Watonga High School Class of 2020.

Ariayna Yellowbank was selected to receive a $3,000 scholarship award to support her freshman year of studies at the University of Oklahoma, where she plans to major in anthropology and linguistics. At WHS she participated in FFA, band, FCCLA, WHS Cheer and was a member of the academic team. Based on academic achievement, she was a member of both the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society. Yellowbank was recently selected for membership in the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band.

Nathan Parham was selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship award to support his freshman year of studies at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he will pursue a degree in English. At WHS, Parham participated in band, basketball, track, baseball, the academic bowl and the gifted and talented program. Based on academic achievement, he was a member of both the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society.

The Doris Lewis Cupp Family Memorial Scholarship was created by the children of Doris Cupp to honor their mother, a lifelong educator who taught at Watonga High School from 1979-1993. Each of the Cupp children graduated from WHS: Carri (1981), Dondi (1983), Kimbri (1987), Terry (1988), and Kelli and Sean (1991). Each year, the Doris Lewis Cupp Family Memorial Scholarship will recognize one or more graduating seniors who excelled in a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities at Watonga High School.
