Sharon Sue Shawver Flynn

Sharon Sue Shawver Flynn, 58, of Watonga, OK, passed away on September 10, 2020, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Brush, Colorado on September 16, 1961. She grew up in Oklahoma, including living in Bethel and Midwest City, ultimately graduating from Midwest City High School in 1979. She was married to Richard Ladon Flynn on July 31, 1999.

Sharon worked in oil and gas for over 30 years that took her through several communities, including Del City, Odessa, Texas and Midwest City, before she ultimately settled in Watonga, Oklahoma. But Sharon's most important job was raising her three children and three step-children. She never missed a game, awards ceremony, play, concert or any other activity her kids would do. If there was an opportunity to support her children, she was there, even if it meant keeping score or being an assistant coach. And that same love spread to her five grand-children and being there for their games, plays, musicals and everything else she could be there to see. It even spread to her nieces and nephews, cheering them on and always being a positive voice when they needed it most. Sharon also grew up loving cars and racing, and was her brother's biggest fan as she watched him race his Limecat across America, whether it was in person or watching online.

Sharon shared that same passion and love throughout her community. She served as an officer for numerous years in the Watonga All-Sports Association and on other school committees, volunteered as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate to advocate for abused and neglected children, attended city council meetings, and advocated for improvements in Watonga. Sharon also shared her passionate love with her work family, whether it was taking care of the employees at her plant by organizing a steak dinner or volunteering

with them for Special Olympics. She built friendships that lasted a lifetime with so many of her co-workers throughout her career.

Outside of all the formal ways she gave back, Sharon was always a person that if you needed something and asked, she would do everything she could to help you. Whether it was a backpack for school, clothes for an upcoming event or even just a shoulder to cry on, Sharon would be there in a heartbeat. To know her was to love her, and she shared her love with as many people as she could.

Sharon is survived by her husband Richard; her step-mother, Lee Shawver of Paris, Texas; her brother, William Christopher Shawver and his wife Karen of Sherwood, Arkansas; her children, Amber and her husband Scott, Edwin (E.J.) and his wife, Michelle; Jayden, Jarrod and his wife, Mayra; Brittany and her husband, Nima; and Javis; grandchildren Joseph, Saraben, Donovan, Drayton, and Romy; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Eda Shawver; her grandmother Edith 'Nana" Wham; her great-grandmother, Bertha Tipps; and her first-husband, Joseph Esada.
