Rain and weather may have been contributing factors July 28 to an accident near Longdale.

According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Chester Cravens, 74, of Fairview was westbound on Major County Road 580 when a tree fell over onto his pickup truck. Ricky Drake, 35, of Chester, and Roy Cisco, 21, also of Chester, were passengers.

Drake was pinned in the vehicle before being freed after 15 minutes by Canton and Longdale fire departments. He was air lifted to University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Cravens, the driver, was treated and released from Fairview Medical Center, as was Cisco, the second passenger. No one in the truck was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, which remains under investigation.

OHP was assisted by the Major County Sheriff’s Office, Major County EMS, Canton Fire Department, Longdale Fire Department, Fairview Fire and Rescue and Air Evac.
