Earnest Eugene (Earnie) Hood

Earnest Eugene (Earnie) Hood was born on February 21, 1948 in Geary, OK to Ralph E. and Dorothy Mae (Vowell) Hood. He passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at the DVA Medical Center in OKC, OK at the age of 70. Earnie attended Greenfield Schools graduating in 1966. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, serving from August of 1967 to August of 1969. Earnie served with the 9th Infantry Division in armed conflict against insurgent forces in the Republic of Vietnam from March 1968 to January 1969. He received the Army Commendation Medal in February 1968, and the Bronze Star Medal for his actions during that battle. He also was a long-haul trucker, and John Deere shop foreman in Watonga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Dorothy Hood, his grandparents, R.E. and Gertie Vowell, and his brothers, Doyle Hood and Donald Hood.
Survivors Include: his daughter, Alishia Cormier and husband Lane of Durant, OK, his granddaughter, Kylee Dellinger and husband Robert of Durant, OK, his great granddaughter, Cadence Norseworthy of Durant, OK, his sister, Viola Wanzer of Longdale, OK, and his brother, Louis Hood and wife Janice of Greenfield, OK, numerous nieces and nephews and their children, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services were at Geary Cemetery, Friday, November 2, 2018, Geary, OK
