In their regular season finale, the Eagles traveled over to Hinton to take on the Comets in a battle for playoff position. The Eagles were coming off their first victory of the season, and were looking to add to it against a team with the same record. After a quick 3 and out by the Eagle defense, the new look offense took to the field, and Joe Jackson made a statement, taking the option himself for a 45 yard TD. The Eagles defense came back out and continued to put the pads to the Comets big tailback, keeping them at minimal gains throughout the game. Although they scored, the opposing team had to use the majority of the quarter just to cross the goalline.

The Eagle offense took flight with the passing game in the second quarter, with Chris Sanders and Deondre Dunn making huge plays down the field. Dunn ended the night catching 2 TD's and racking up 105 yards, while Kannon Kearney had the longest catch of his career and the season, tearing off an 82 burst up the middle from the backfield reception. Everything was working for the Eagles, who accumulated over 300 yards of total offense and the defense stifled the Comets to only 15 points, even adding a score, recording their first safety of the year.

Coach Maynard was very positive about the way the team has played over the final weeks of the regular season, saying "I always felt that when the boys got it rolling, we'd be hard to stop. Now it's starting to show."

And with the opportunity to participate in the playoffs, the Eagles aren't looking to exit early. The road to the championship starts with the Dibble Demons at 7pm on Friday. Although the road may be difficult, the team is excited for a new journey, and hope the community will make the trip down to Dibble. Watongaeagles.tv will again be airing the game LIVE, so tune in to our broadcast with Derrick Jenkins and Stephen Lake, starting at 6:30 pm.
