Colleges Expand Nursing Ed

A new agreement between the Langston University School of Nursing and Health Professions and Redlands Community College will allow graduates of Redlands’ nursing program to more easily obtain a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from Langston University. The agreement was formally signed Friday on the LU Langston campus.

The Story Behind the Nitzel 5K

I am Ciara (Nitzel) Kilhoffer, the daughter of Patrick and Marcy Nitzel. They both were affected by different brain tumors. Here are their stories: In 2010 Patrick was diagnosed with a large right frontal lobe meningioma after experiencing headache, fatigue and left sided weakness. A craniotomy was performed followed with gamma knife radiation. He recovered well and continued with frequent scans In 2016 he had reoccurrence requiring gamma knife once again. He passed away April 8, 2023, at the age of 63. Patrick is remembered as a true country boy! He was a dedicated father, hardworking, and filled everything with humor. He worked 30 years in the oil & gas industry and retired in 2020. He enjoyed the outdoors and tinkering with a variety of mechanical devices.

PTK at Redlands Wins Historic Honor

EL RENO, Okla. — In a remarkable achievement, the Alpha Beta Upsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) at Redlands Community College was selected the Most Distinguished Chapter among over 1,200 chapters internationally. This prestigious recognition, announced at the recent annual conference of the international honor society for two-year colleges, marks a significant milestone for Redlands’ historically strong PTK program and is the result of dedication, exemplary leadership, and commitment to excellence exhibited by the members of the Redlands chapter.

Caddo Retired Educators Elect New Leadership

The Caddo County Retired Educators held the monthly meeting on Monday, April 8, at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb. There were 15 members present. The group was led in the flag salute by Linda Harrison and a devotional was given by Pama Phillips. Secretary Christi Smith read minutes from the last meeting and reports were given by Treasurer Allen Klein, Scholarship Chair Julie Mead, Legislative Chair Harvey Mead, and Membership Chair Donna Weaver.
