The 2022 Blaine County Fair opens Thursday afternoon, Aug. 25, at the county fairgrounds in Watonga. People may begin bringing their non-livestock entries between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Becky Bedwell, Blaine County OSU Extension Ag, and 4-H Educator, encourages people to come out and bring their entries.
To be eligible to show in the Blaine County Fair livestock divisions a person must be an enrolled 4-H or be an FFA member in Blaine County. For all other exhibits, a person must be a Blaine County resident.
Exhibits must be raised, grown, or raised by the person exhibiting. If an article has been entered in a previous Blaine County Fair, it is not eligible to complete in the 2022 Blaine County Fair.
She said people may also bring their non-livestock entries to the Fairgrounds on Friday beginning at 7:30 a.m. and those must be entered by 10:00 a.m. Friday except for the pie baking contest entries.
The Commercial exhibits open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
Bedwell urges the people to come out and watch the livestock show on Saturday starting at 7:30 a.m. with the swine competition at 7:30 a.m. to be followed by the goat and sheep shows that start 30 minutes after the swine show.
The beef show will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the sheep show, Bedwell said.
She noted that judging of the Oklahoma Home Community Educators 4-H, FFA, Ag and open class exhibits start at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
The pie baking contest entries may be received starting at noon Friday.
Judging of rabbits and poultry starts at 6:00 p.m. Friday. Entries for those starts at 5:30 on Friday evening. A cake auction is set for 6:00 p.m. Friday in the Foley Building.
There is a mini-beef show at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
At 8:00 a.m. on Saturday the Exhibit room and Commercial exhibits open.
There is a tractor driving contest Saturday.
The Exhibit room closes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, 9:00 p.m. on Friday and all exhibits must be picked up in the Foley building by 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
