The Blaine County Livestock Show will be held this weekend at the fairgrounds in Watonga.
From 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, papers will be checked and swine, goats and sheep will be weighed in. All livestock except cattle must be at the fairgrounds by 5 p.m.
The swine show will begin Saturday at 8 a.m., followed by the sheep and goats beginning about 11 a.m. The goat fitting contest will be held a half hour after the conclusion of the sheep show. After the shows end, the animals will be released from the fairgrounds. In order to participate in the bonus auction, all contestants must have a photo made with their animals before exiting the fairgrounds.
Sunday beginning at 1 p.m., the cattle show will commence. The animals will have papers checked and be weighed in between 8 – 10 a.m. that morning. They must be at the fairgrounds by 9 a.m.
After the judging of the cattle show, the cattle fitting contest will be held and then the livestock will be released.
Eva Hendrickson will judge the cattle show, while Tim Herren will judge the swine. J.J. Maddox will serve as the goat show judge.
Each exhibitor will be eligible for the Hoberecht Award and may gain points with placings in various classes. They may also enter the showmanship in each animal category, divided by age of exhibitor.
The bonus auction will begin with a complimentary meal at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Foley Building at the fairgrounds. The auction should begin about 6:30 p.m. For more information you may call OSU extension at 580-6235195.
