Up to 300 expected
There will be a fly-in breakfast Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at the Watonga Regional Airport.
For those who are unfamiliar with the term, a fly-in invites pilots from all over to come and land at an particular airport and familiarize themselves with it and the area, or revisit a favorite location.
The event will feature a breakfast cooked inhouse, with pancakes, sausage, bacon, coffee, muffins and juice.
Everyone, whether they fly, drive or walk in, is welcome to stop in for the food, free of charge, although donations will be accepted.
Anyone who is interested in learning to fly is invited to take a free discovery flight, offered by Wrenn Aviation of Enid. The fuel for these flights is sponsored by Noe Aviation of Oklahoma.
There are several other activities scheduled for the day in Watonga.
The newly branded restaurant at Roman Nose State Park, the Lookout, will be preparing for its grand opening and seating may be available, and a free hotdog feed will take place at the TB Ferguson Home and Museum on North Weigle Avenue.
The city’s splash pad will also kick off its summer season that day.
Pilots, passengers and other visitors are encouraged to come out, spend the day enjoying the sights and tastes of Watonga and make some great early summer memories.
Anyone with questions may contact Jena Ohman, airport director, at 580623-7350.
