Delegates awarded according to party systems
There were very few surprises on Super Tuesday in Blaine County or Oklahoma, for that matter. In the county the presidential primary went as expected, with former President Donald Trump outdistancing other contenders in every party by a wide margin.
Amongst Republicans, Trump pulled in 85.74 % of the vote compared to 12.24% for Nikki Haley, .29% for Chris Christie, 0 to Asa Hutchison, .19% for Vivek Ramaswamy, .19% for Ron DeSantis, .19% to Ryan Binkley and .1% for David Stuckenberg.
On the Democratic side of the ticket, sitting President Joe Biden took 45.9% of the vote, compared to 10.9% for Steven Lyons, 6.0% for Armando Mando Perez-Serrato, 22.9% for Dean Phillips, 10.9% for Marianne Williamson and 1.6% for Cenk Uygur.
Neither Libertarian Chase Oliver nor Jacob Hornberger received any votes.
Some voters in the county were eligible to vote on a question for Canton.
That was to determine whether the town treasurer should be appointed by the town board and whether the town should collect a 1% sales tax to support the municipal functions.
As of press time, those resolutions appeared to have passed.
Statewide the primary results were much the same, with Trump garnering 81.8 % of the vote, followed by Haley,15.8, Christie .35%, Hutchison .14%, Ramaswamy .33%, DeSantis 1.27%, Binkley .1%, and Stukenberg .13%.
On the Democratic ticket, Biden won 72.8% of the vote, followed by Lyons at 4.84, Perez-Serrato with 1.97, Phillips 8.93, Williamson 9.12 and Uygur 2.15%.
The Libertarian candidate Oliver received 61.25% compared to Hornberger with 88.75.
Trump and Haley are the only remaining candidates on the Republican ticket, but early reports Wednesday indicated Haley will withdraw from the race, while Biden shares with Phillips and Williamson.
Although not a choice in Oklahoma, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, nephew of the assassinated president of the same name, is an Independent candidate.
Upcoming election dates in Oklahoma include the primary election on June 18, runoffs on August 27 and the general election on November 5.
Candidates for county offices must file between April 3-5 at their county election board.
