We have made the difficult decision to not have the Trout Derby this year!
Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation is still working on the repairs on Lake Watonga’s dam.
There was a break in work on the dam for a while due to complications in the repair plans. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation had to wait on the contract for the new plans for the repairs to be approved. When these plans are approved, they will be able to continue with the repairs. The repairs are estimated to take 4 months.
Lake Boecher is too small and shallow to hold the Trout Derby.
We won’t be doing our usual trout stocking that we do right before the Trout Derby. The normal trout stocking of Roman Nose State Parks lake is being done in Lake Boecher, so it is available for trout fishing on a smaller scale.
We will be putting our funds towards a fantastic 4th of July Celebration at Roman Nose State Park!
