I don’t know about you, but I like watching sports of all types in person or on television!
The baseball season has already begun causing me to think about a phrase often used in baseball, “It’s a brandnew game.” This means the score has been tied. It’s like starting all over again.
So it may be in life. Many times, we come to a place in life where it has to be, a brand-new game. Some situation develops that changes the way it has been. To move on in life may require going in a different direction, starting over.
When a young couple has their first child, it’s a brandnew game. When a spouse passes away, it’s a brand-new game. When an elderly person loses their beloved pet, it’s a brand-new game. When a person’s child leaves home to begin a life on their own, it’s a brand-new game.
In a baseball game, when the score is tied in the final inning of the game, they do not go back to the first inning and start over again. They keep playing!!
Maybe today you find yourself in a new frightening, desperate situation. If this is true, I encourage you, do not look back with regret, remorse, or bitterness. Instead focus on tomorrow, not yesterday and its disappointments. It’s time for you to begin a brand-new game, a moving on time, another path to follow. You can choose to start a “brand-new” game, it’s your choice. Do it. You’ll be glad you did. I like the following:

Keep on playing, take the high way; it’s simply a “brand-new ballgame.”
