We had visitors every day this week. A couple from Oklahoma City and two couples from Seminole, Oklahoma. One of the couples had been to the museum about 35 years ago and brought their friends. He told me to start from the beginning with the history because they didn’t remember after all this time. A mother and son came that were camping at Roman Nose. She home schools her four children. The teenagers were doing other stuff so she brought him. He was quiet but I could tell he was listening. Then a group from Watonga came while I was giving the tour to the group from Seminole.

We have wonderful news! Some people from here in Watonga have stepped up to take over the Friends of the Ferguson Home Museum. It’s such a relief to know the history will still be able to go forth. They have new ideas which is a good thing. The Friends of the Ferguson Home has needed new blood per say for a while now. Louise D. and I are excited that this is happening and can’t wait to see what changes take place. I’ve mentioned in past articles about the ladies talking to politicians and doing fund raisers to get the T.B. Ferguson Home Museum open. Hopefully the enthusiasm they had will catch on again.

We will be having the 50th Anniversary open house of the museum during the Cheese Festival, Friday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Anyone that wants to become an active volunteer or become a member of Friends of Ferguson Home is welcome, all help is appreciated.

Hours of operation are Wednesday thru Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Closed city and state holidays. Give us a call at 580623-5069 to make arrangements for after hours tour.
