Sunday afternoon, February 11, beginning about noon, the local 4H and FFA show teams will put on a fundraiser meal at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. There will be a taco bar/Indian taco meal for $12 per person to benefit the show teams.

Following the end of the meal, about 2 p.m., the Ring of Champions will take the ring. In this event, the students who own show animals will assist special needs students to exhibit the animals. This benefits both sets of students and gives the guest showmen an opportunity to work with livestock that they might not have otherwise experienced.

Once the Ring of Champions has been completed, the local students will show their own animals vying against one another for bragging rights and allowing them to size up the competition before next week’s Blaine County Livestock Show.

The county livestock show will be held February 16-18. On the 16th, swine, goats and sheep will be weighed and checked in. They are to be in place by 5 p.m. that day.

The next morning, Saturday, Feb. 17, the swine show will begin at 8 a.m. The fair board anticipates beginning the goat and sheep show by 11 a.m.

Cattle are weighed in on Sunday, Feb. 18 beginning at 8 a.m. and should be on site by 9 a.m.

Student showmen must be a member of a Blaine County 4H or FFA. That membership requires a student be at least 8 years old and in the third grade.

The bonus auction will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 20 at the Foley Building at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. The awards ceremony will begin about 6:15 and the premium auction will start at 6:30 p.m.
