WATONGA – Kids and families across Watonga are excited for the return of Halloween this Sunday, Oct. 31. With the spooky holiday falling on a weekend, there will be activities galore for everyone to enjoy on Halloween and the days before it.

Here are a few local Halloween events coming up this weekend:

Eagle City Haunted House: Wednesday through Sunday

Terrors await in Eagle City this week, as the annual haunted house attraction will open Wednesday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The attraction is free, though donations are appreciated.

The event includes a haunted house walk-through, a voodoo swamp, a blacklight maze and more. It can be found off state Highway 58 and west on E0746; the house is on the north side of the street. Just follow the signs and look for the graveyard and flashing lights.

Mercy Hospital Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat: Friday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Watonga’s Mercy Hospital will host a drive-thru Trunk or Treat event on Friday, Oct. 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. Enter the hospital parking lot off the Clarence Nash south entrance, then follow through and exit on the north end of the lot. Mercy Hospital is located at 500 N. Clarence Nash.

Geary Tri-County Fair: Friday and Saturday

After being delayed from early September due to COVID-19, the Geary Tri-County Fair will happen this Friday and Saturday instead! The fair will include carnival rides from 7 to 10 p.m. both days. The fair parade will be Saturday at 5 p.m., followed by a cake auction in the community building, and Trunk or Treat will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Geary Agriplex parking lot.

The Geary Community Market will also occur during its regular hours this Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. just outside Geary City Hall.

Watonga Ministerial Alliance Trunk or Treat: Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Watonga Ministerial Alliance will post up at Huff Lorang Park Saturday night for a family-friendly trick-or-treat celebration. The event drew hundreds of kids last year and is sure to be a hit again in 2021! Those who wish to decorate a car should arrive at least 15 minutes before 5. The Trunk or Treat event will coincide with Watonga’s trick-or-treat observance.

T.B. Ferguson Home Museum Halloween Bash: Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.

The century-old Ferguson Home will host its Halloween Bash on Saturday night, and admission is $2 apiece. Come support Watonga’s flagship museum!

Watonga Trick-or-Treat: Saturday

The Watonga City Council has voted to designate Saturday, Oct. 30 as “Trick-or-Treat Night” in the city. This will allow kiddos and parents to enjoy the evening without worrying about school the next day, so get out there and grab some extra candy this year!

Roman Nose Halloween: Saturday

Roman Nose State Park will host a costume contest and trick-or-treat event this Saturday, Oct. 30. The costume contest is a 5 p.m.; participants can sign up at the Lodge, and the contest will be held at the general store. There is an adult and kids division, and the winners will receive a Swadley’s Foggy Bottom gift card. At 6 p.m., the park will

Watonga Lucky Star Casino Trunk or Treat: Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Lucky Star Casino will host a Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, Oct. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the conference center lobby. Use the south side entrance for quick access to the treats!

Geary Public Library Trunk or Treat: Sunday at 5 p.m.

While the kiddos are out grabbing goodies, make sure they stop by the Geary Public Library! The library will be set up in the atrium next door, handing out candy from 5 p.m. until it’s gone.
