I thought we would go back to the list of seven things the LORD hates found in Proverbs 6:16-19, “There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”

We were looking at the first one “haughty eyes”. The NKJV calls this “a proud look”. By definition haughty describes one that is “proud and vain to the point of arrogance.” One who is arrogant is one who is overly convinced of his own importance.”

In my opinion the best example of this in the Bible is found in Luke 18:9-14, “He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Sad to say, I have met many believers who treat others like this. This is not Christianity. When we do this, we are guilty of judging others. Let us all learn to see people as Jesus did. God bless you. Have a good week.
