Today, we are once again looking at the list of seven things the LORD hates found in Proverbs 6:16-19, “There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” Our church has been meeting every
Our church has been meeting every Sunday since April 26. We’re just a small group, so those who practice social distancing have plenty of room for a safe space. I want to invite any whose church hasn’t started meeting yet to come be with us. We will be happy to have you visit us.
This lesson finishes the list of 7 things God hates. The 7th is the “one who sows discord among brothers.” If you think about this one, you will acknowledge that several of the other things God hates is involved in this activity: “a lying tongue, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, and a false witness who breathes out lies.” Wouldn’t you say that this one is probably the worst one of all?
Those who sow discord are trouble makers. They can’t stand it when things are going smoothly in a family or a church. They feel the need to liven things up a little, so they determine to divide what has been united. Folks, that’s what man has done to the Lord’s church. God’s plan is for the church to be one, but man has divided it into over 1,000 denominations. This causes confusion, and God is not the God of confusion.
People, read in your Bible what God’s pattern for the church is and follow His pattern. Then and only then will we have the unity God wants us to have.
