The preliminary hearing on state charges against former Watonga chief of police Shawn Kays was deemed unnecessary Friday in Blaine County.
The state will begin its case at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 in Kingfisher. Kays is facing charges of burglary, assault and battery in connection with a residential dispute which started out as a report of a prowler.
Kays is also facing federal firearms charges, which are scheduled to be heard in early November.
