The Oklahoma State Department of Health began Phase 4 of its COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan on Monday.

With Phase 4 now under way, every Oklahoman over the age of 16 is now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We have all been looking forward to this day for a long time. All Oklahomans will be eligible to schedule a vaccine appointment through the state, regardless of your priority group. No more screening for eligibility groups,” Deputy Commissioner of Health Keith Reed said. “No more need for personal contemplation about whether you are eligible or should get the vaccine. If you are over 16 and live in Oklahoma, you are eligible and should get vaccinated.”

As of Monday, almost 1.9 million vaccine doses had been administered in Oklahoma with more than 686 thousand people fully vaccinated in the state.

In a press conference on Monday, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt praised Oklahoma officials for helping Oklahoma to be one of the first states in the nation to begin distributing the vaccine to all of its adult residents.

Some tribal nations in Oklahoma such as the Indian Health Service clinics in Clinton, El Reno, and Watonga had already begun vaccine distribution to local non-Native community members 16 years of age and older as early as two weeks ago.

Efforts to distribute the vaccine have grown across the state with Indian Health Services administering to local non-Native residents and Walmart pharmacies being one of the more widely available vaccine distribution locations earlier this month.

The Oklahoma City-County Health Department even began accepting walkin appointments during their vaccination clinic on Monday.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health’s website is just one of a growing list of places to visit to begin scheduling your COVID vaccine appointment.
