SENIOR CENTER NEWS

On Tuesday, August 25, we have a chance to exercise our right to vote in the state run-off elections. We have an opportunity to vote for governor, superintendent of schools, labor commissioner, insurance commissioner and state senator, in certain parties. We also have two state questions to consider. It seems that the candidates are spending unbelievable amounts of money and vitriol on these campaigns. It is our duty, as informed voters, to sift through all the promises and pick a candidate that we hope will serve us and our needs. The important thing is to get out and VOTE on August 25.

The things we can do before and after are to come to the Watonga Senior Citizens Center for lunch Monday through Friday. Everyone of any age can come join us for lunch from 11 am to 12:30 pm, each day except Wednesday, when we eat from 11 am to 12 noon. Our meals are $8 and no one ever goes away hungry. Call us any morning before 10 am for home delivery. You do not have to sign up for home delivery every day—just when convenient for you. Our deliveries were made last week by Lisa Nelson, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman.

Our quilters last week were Louise Cooper and Estalene Teply, and they have almost finished the quilt they are working on. Come to the Center and look at the quilt and their beautiful handwork.

We received a memorial donation from the American Legion for Jim Thompson. Our thanks to them.

We will host Saturday night Fun and Games on August 22, from 6 pm to 9 pm. Come in out of the heat and play games with the Saturday Night Gang.

Come join us any weekday at the Center. We welcome you!!
