School is back in session and the county fair is history. Here we are in September, the ninth month of the year; 30 days in length. Usually it is the beginning of fall but with our temperatures still in the 100’s, it is hard to believe. September 7, the first Monday of the month, is Labor Day. September 11 is Patriot Day, held in honor and remembrance of those who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. September 13 is Grandparents’ Day; honor them this day and every day. It seems there are a lot of days to celebrate in September, along with some birthdays.
At the Watonga Senior Citizens Center it seems we always have a holiday spirit. Our members do a wonderful job of decorating our tables, now in sunflowers. We always have a beautiful hand-made quilt hanging on the wall. So come join us any day for lunch from 11 am to 12:30 pm, each day except Wednesday. Then we eat from 11 am to 12 noon. Call us at 580-6234511 any morning before 10 am for home meal delivery. Last week our meals were delivered by: Teresa Bryan, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein (2 days) and Janice Hood.

Our meals are $8 and you get a meat dish, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, salad, homemade roll and dessert, with a drink. No dishes to wash or kitchen clean-up. Come join us.
We want to thank Rick Keeton for installing a new ceiling fan at the Center. These hot days, it is wonderful to have it working (especially during exercise class).
Louise Cooper and Estalene Teply were our quilters this week. They are needle and thread artists. Come see their work.
On Saturday, September 12, the Watonga Masonic Lodge will host its monthly breakfast from 7 am to 10 am. Come begin your weekend with a hearty breakfast prepared by Watonga’s finest!
Also, that evening, the Center will host its Fun and Games Night from 6 pm to 9 pm. Join the Saturday Night Gang for snacks, card games, dominoes, pool and live music.
