September 11 is Patriot Day to honor the individuals who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States, twenty-five years ago. It is not a federal holiday, but is recognized as a national day of service and remembrance. It is the 255th day of the year, with 111 days remaining until the end of the year. I am certain we all can remember that day and what we were doing when the world changed. We will never forget.
We are serving delicious, home-cooked meals at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center Monday through Friday. Call us any morning before 10 am for home delivery (it does not cost more for that service). We eat at the Center each day, except Wednesday when the Kiwanis Club meets, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 am to 12 noon.

Our quilters were Louise Cooper and Estalene Teply. They are almost finished with the quilt in the rack, so if you have a quilt you would like hand-quilted, let the Senior Citizens Center know.
On Saturday, September 12, the Watonga Masonic Lodge will host its monthly breakfast from 7 am to 10 am. This is a wonderful way to begin your weekend.
That night, come join the Saturday Night Gang for fun and games from 6 pm to 9 pm. Bring a snack to share, and play cards, dominoes, pool, work on a jigsaw puzzle and listen to live music. What a nice break for the week!
The nurses from Mercy Hospital Watonga will be at the Center Friday, September 18, to take blood pressure and glucose levels, at 9:45 am. This is a free service and we should all check these levels regularly.
