Hi everyone! It's good to be able to fill you in on the news from the Center. We have lost so many good people recently. It's really sad. Several have been members of the Senior Citizens Club. We're gonna miss them. We had some donations in memory of Delbert and Nadine Pearson, and Judy Fox donated in memory of Nadine Pearson. We really appreciate these donations.

Bill Roper brought in fresh squash and cucumbers from his garden. Thank you Bill.

We had 25 folks come in for music and games on Saturday night. We had several gone for various reasons but we all managed to have a good time. It was good to have Geraldine Wilhite and Farrol Boyd back to join in. They've both been under the weather for a while. The next time we're scheduled to meet is October 9th. However that is the second day of the Cheese Festival so we all decided we didn't want to meet that night. So, our next night for music and games will be Saturday, October 23rd. Be sure to mark your calendars and come join us.

Elaine and Monte Compton renewed their membership, and Lewis and Mina Green renewed their membership too. Thanks to all of you for being part of us.

I don't know if we had any quilters on Thursday. No names were written down. I'm going to have to make a point of asking, I guess.

Well, we tried twice to take the bus on trips but too few wanted to go. I guess with all the sickness and deaths, people are too afraid to get out with others. It's understandable, we'll keep trying.

It was good to have Mary Brown back to help Karen Dugger carry Meals on Wheels on Monday and Tuesday. We appreciate Karen's daughter, Sharon Barnes, helping Karen while Mary was out of town. Thank you Sharon. Others delivering meals last week were Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood, and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to everyone for helping us out.

We are still making plans for our turkey and dressing dinner on Friday, October 8th. We could sure use some volunteers to help out while we are serving. If you can help us with this fundraising project give us a call at 623- 4511 and we'll put your name down. You would be very much appreciated. Also, if you can make pies we would sure appreciate any pies you might want to donate for the dinner. This is our first fundraiser in quite some time. We really need to do good with it as our funds are depleting rapidly. With the lights and water increasing and the cost of food to serve getting so high, it's getting harder to stay ahead.

Here's our menu for the next few days:

Thursday -- Baked Chicken

Friday -- Indian Tacos

Monday -- Taco Salads

Tuesday -- Sausage and Sauerkraut

Wednesday -- Kiwanis meets

Thursday (10/7) -- Chicken Strips

Friday (10/8) -- Turkey and Dressing Fundraiser

There will be an increased charge for the fundraiser on October 8th but I'm not certain what the cost will be. I'll let you know next week.

And here's a reminder!! Friday, October 1st, we are increasing our daily meal cost to $6. We regret having to do this but it has become necessary with food costs going up so much.

Well, I pray you are all well. Just continue to take care as best you can. That's all any of us can do. Til next week ...
