The weathermen tell us no more temperatures of over 100 degrees. Do we believe them? We want to believe them. Let us hope fall is on the way! It usually always rains during the State Fair, so we are ready to welcome it. When I was a kid, I really didn’t worry about the weather. Whatever came, just came. Now, it seems that is the major topic of conversation. Do you think in February, we will wish for these 100-degree days? We will probably complain about the cold. One thing that is nothing to complain about is the delicious menu at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center. This is what is coming:

If you are a paid member of the Center (annual dues of $15) and you are a September baby, you can eat FREE on Friday, September 25. We eat each day, except Wednesday, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. On Wednesdays, when Kiwanis meets at the Center, we eat from 11 am to 12 noon. Our meals are $8 and you are guaranteed to get plenty to eat! Call us any morning, before 10 am, at 580-623-4511 for home delivery.

We received a donation last week from Mae Thompson. We also received a memorial donation from Dorothy Jameson for Esther Arnold.
Our lone quilter last week was Louise Cooper. The quilt she and others were working on is finished. We will now wait for Terri Crawford to finish it by binding it. Gene Matli’s family brought in her quilt rack with a quilt on it that she was unable to finish hand-quilting, and Louise has begun working on it. Come by the Center and see the beautiful quilt we have hanging. It is a quilt with fish on it, made by Becky Ake.
On Saturday night, September 26, we will host our Fun and Games Night. Come join the Saturday Night Gang with snacks, card games, dominoes, puzzles, pool and live music from 6 pm to 9 pm. I guarantee you will have a good time.
The 50th Annual Watonga Cheese Festival is coming up on Friday and Saturday, October 9 and 10. The Center will be having Chicken and Noodles and all the trimmings on Friday, October 9, from 11 am to 1 pm, at our regular price of $8. Come have a delicious lunch with us before the Cheese Festival fun begins.
