WATONGA – The Watonga Board of Education swore in a new member Monday and made some final hirings as the 2021-22 school year approaches.

Mayra Flynn joined the board and will now guide the district alongside Aaron Clewell, Shawn Cox, Dwight McGee and Andy Wigington. Wigington was the only board member absent from Monday’s meeting.

Other than Flynn’s swearing-in, Monday’s meeting consisted of reports from new Superintendent Kyle Hilterbran and district principals, renewal of contracts, and some hires.

The board also accepted the resignations of Glenda Wickware, a library aide, and special education teacher Tametra Davis. Wickware was then hired back on a parttime basis.

The other new hires the board approved Monday were:

• Tiffani Lankford – paraprofessional

• Ronnie Johnson – MS/HS custodian

• Kendra Baker – ISD monitor

• Lindsay Bertsch – elementary

Hilterbran told the Watonga Republican that the district is now completely staffed.

The Watonga school board is next scheduled to meet on Aug. 9. The first day of school will be on Aug. 19.
