Butler was raised in Hinton and graduated from Lookeba-Sickles before entering the energy business at wind farms and oil wells. In 2019, Butler and his wife started Struck Rock Oil and Gas, which he operates from his home near Fay.

Darcy Jech

Jech has represented Senate District 26 since 2014. He is a graduate of Kingfisher High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

“Art in the Park” Brings Fun to Watonga

“Art in the Park” is a special collaboration between the City of Watonga, Friends of the Watonga Public Library, the Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, and others. Each Saturday, beginning May 28, Watonga residents have been treated to special performances by professional musicians, artists and story tellers at various parks in Watonga. The first performance was on May 28 outside the Roman Nose Pool. June 4 was drawing with Sheryl Cozad at the Wheeler (Library) Park. On June 11 Spaghetti Eddie provided a Family Music Concert at the Huff Lorang Park. Most recently, Will Hill, a full blooded Muscogean Indian who is a widely acclaimed storyteller performed stories and songs of native American lore at the Moudry “Scout Hut” Park.

Blaine County Commissioners: Meet the Candidates in District 3

Blaine County voters will be choosing two new county commissioners this year to replace the retiring Mike Allen, in District 1, and Raymond Scheffler in District 3. Three Republicans are vying District 3 commissioner, an area that includes most of Watonga and central Blaine County, meaning the race will be decided in the primaries. Primary Election Day is this Tuesday, June 28. In their own words, here are the candidates for the District 3 seat of the Blaine County Board of Commissioners:

Serving the public as an owner of a grocery store, working as a market manager locally, or serving on the Watonga City Council, has granted me the opportunity to listen to the needs of many. Serving on the city council and working in the Blaine County Assessor's office have afforded me the opportunities to see how local government works.
