OKLAHOMA CITY – Thirty-one Oklahomans representing communities across the state, including Watonga City Manager Karrie Beth Little, will begin convening in February as part of Leadership Arts XII, the Oklahoma Arts Council has announced.

SoonerCare Starts Renewal Process for Members

OKLAHOMA CITY – Due to federal regulation passed in December, SoonerCare will soon restart the renewal process for members as the public health emergency continuous coverage ends. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) will begin the eligibility redetermination process in early March.

Kale Smith was the Watonga High School/ Lions Club Student of the month for February. Smith is the son of Molly and Andy Smith and was active in football, wrestling and golf for WHS. He was named a 2022 all district linebacker and a state qualifier in wrestling. He qualified Feb.

Four students - Jessica Findley, Caitlynn Patton, Taylor Shelton and Caden Tucker—have received the Bill & Eloise Muncy Memorial Scholarship for Academic Year 2022-2023 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU). Findley, Patton, and Tucker all hail from Hinton, Oklahoma.

Geary City Hall parking lot was the site Thursday of a reported assault on a city employee. A security camera video was forwarded to the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office sometime after the fact. Sheriff Travis Daughtery said the matter remains under investigation.

Council Moves Ahead on Housing Build

Watonga City Council had a wide range of items on the Feb. 21 agenda. Council member Allen Cowan was unable to attend, however the remainder of the council was present and worked in front of an audience of about 25 residents and guests.

Board Approves Principal Contracts

Board Approves Principal Contracts, Calendar for Next Year When the Watonga School Board met Feb. 13, one of the topics on the agenda was the building principals. The district was lucky this year in that each of the three principals was choosing to remain on the job for 2023-24.
