Loneman First Hook Scholar

Southwestern Oklahoma State University is proud to announce that D’Qwan Loneman is the first-ever recipient of the Hook Family Scholarship.

Loneman is a junior from Watonga, pursuing a degree in Mathematics Education. He intends to pursue a career teaching math and coaching football and track after graduating.

The Hook Family Scholarship was established in 2024 through the generous support of longtime SWOSU benefactors Dr. Carl and Sandra Hook of Norman. The Hook family has a long legacy of involvement with and investment in SWOSU.

Dr. Hook studied chemistry, math, and biology and graduated in 1967. Carl’s parents, William Dean Hook and Dorothy K. Brundage, and older sibling Dorothy Dean Hook, were also all alumni of SWOSU. Dr. Hook’s uncle, pharmacist Bert Brundage of Thomas, was instrumental in the establishment of the SWOSU College of Pharmacy .
