The Caddo County Retired Educators held its monthly meeting April 13. For 10 retired educators, a trip to the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton was more than just a field trip, it was a walk through the history of Route 66. The group was given a guided tour led by Becky Litke, who navigated the group through the museum's decade-by-decade galleries. Beginning with the 1920s and dreams of the 'Mother Road' to a room decorated like a 1950s diner, the music changed from room to room to match the era. The group concluded their visit in the museum's theater, where the movie reflected on how Route 66 remains 'America's Main Street.'
Continuing with the theme, the group then concluded the day by eating lunch at Lucille's Diner in Clinton. The next meeting for the group will be held on Monday, May 11 beginning at 10:30. The program for May will be setting up the schedule for next year's meetings which begin in September of the new school year.
If you are a newly retired educator or one that has retired and never been a part of this group, it is never too late to join. The group meets each second Monday of the month, during the school year, at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center in Fort Cobb.
