1937~2020
Patsy Carol Davis was born on April 12, 1937
in Blaine County, Oklahoma to Lester and Opal
(Owens) Fee and passed away on June 17, 2020
at the age of 83 in Hydro, Oklahoma. She was a
lifetime resident of the Watonga area and graduated
from Watonga High School. She held various
jobs throughout her life such as waitressing,
heat set operator at Hollytex, and her last job
was as a lunchroom cook at Watonga
Elementary School.
Patsy married Dewey Halverson on
September 18, 1954 her senior year of high
school. Dewey and Patsy divorced in November
of 1968. Patsy later married James S. Davis in
September of 1977 and added another daughter
and son to her family.
In 2011 she added another member to her
family- “Bear.” Bear was carved by Jim Sinclair
out of an old tree that had been damaged by hurricane
Aaron. Later, she decided to wish Donnie
happy birthday and posted a sign on the bear- its
life of announcing community events, seasons,
and holidays had begun!
She was an active member of the Watonga
Christian Church helping in many capacities
throughout the years. One of the most recent was
The Ladies on Their Own group. She as a member
of the Friends of The Library, Friends of
Roman Nose, Friends of the Ferguson Museum,
a HEC member, Cheyenne Quilting Guild and
several other quilt clubs, She chaired the local
blood drives; was a certified Blaine County
Reserve Officer, made and donated Quilts of
Honor to area veterans, and numerous other volunteer
works in the community. One year, she
was honored with the Chamber of Commerce
“Volunteer of the Year Award.” Patsy was excellent
at recruiting volunteers for various projects,
you come to visit- you are drafted!
Patsy had always wanted to go on a mission
trip. When Church Growth Ministries went to
Copeland, KS to add onto their church, she took
the opportunity. Since construction wasn’t her
strong suit, she volunteered to head up the
kitchen for the week. She kept three meals a day,
snacks, and drinks ready for the entire week (as
well as providing cinnamon rolls throughout the
week!) She knew she hadn’t gone far but she
was proud that she had done a small mission trip.
She often put many of us younger ones to shame.
Patsy was proceeded in death by her parents,
Lester Fee and Opal Seedorf; her son, Danny;
her husband, James Davis; granddaughter, April
Teply; her great-granddaughter, Cassandra
Downey; her brother, Glen Fee; and step-sisters,
Virginia Post and Margaret Staude.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara
Schmidt and husband Ronnie, of Copeland, KS;
son, Dean Halverson and Angie of Rock
Springs, WY; Don Halverson of Watonga; Mary
Ann Teply and husband Fred of Watonga; Rick
Davis and wife Diane, of Laverne; five granddaughters;
one grandson; and six great grandchildren.
As well as many other friends, relatives,
and “the bear.”
