GREENFIELD – A woman is in custody this week after the Blaine County sheriff said she ran over his boot, led officials on a chase and was found with drugs inside her vehicle.
Stacy Lynn Shaw was arrested Monday on suspicion of reckless driving, aggravated assault of a peace officer, endangering others while eluding a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and multiple other counts.
According to a Facebook post authored by Sheriff Travis Daugherty, officials were serving a search warrant in rural, southwestern Greenfield Monday afternoon when a car drove by slowly. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and Daugherty ordered a woman out of the car, but she refused to get out.
Daugherty said she “accelerated the vehicle and took off from the traffic stop,” running over Daugherty’s steel-toed boot in the process.
Officials pursued the woman for “approximately 38 minutes,” they said, at which point Daugherty “authorized a tactical vehicle intervention.”
The woman had rammed a patrol vehicle and tried to “break check” deputies during the pursuit, Daugherty said.
The sheriff’s office found a substance believed to be methamphetamine in the vehicle, along with ammunition. The woman also had active outstanding warrants, Daugherty said.
He said the whole investigation began after local fire departments responded to that area of Greenfield on Sunday, Jan. 23, and a neighbor “admitted to starting” a fire “by burning (an) animal carcass in a grass field.”
“If you see something say something!” Daugherty concluded. “We want to clean up our communities and it takes the great people of Blaine County to help us start these investigations and get us the tips to stop these criminal acts.”
Daugherty said three total individuals were arrested as a result of the investigation. They are being held at the Blaine County Jail.
Court records show that Shaw was previously charged with attempting to elude an officer in 2019. Last year brought more troubles when she allegedly tried to smuggle contraband into the jail.
