SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi everybody! I hope you had a great week. The weather has basically been nice, but John and I covered our plants, so they survived the frost and cold. I have one plant I put out. It’s a mild pepper plant. It has one good pepper on it and a bunch of buds. I’m waiting on the one pepper to turn orange like the picture on the little tag when I bought it. Then I’ll pick it and give it to John. I don’t eat peppers.

I’m told they have a new quilt to put in the frame. Connie Burcham brought one in to be quilted. I’m anxious to see it.

There is a pretty quilt hanging on the wall that is being sold by silent auction. The last time I looked it was up to $400. It may be more now. It’s a very pretty quilt. If you’re interested come by and see it and place a bid on it.

These were last week’s donations: Margaret Stangl brought in Best Choice labels; the Cheyenne Quilt Guild gave a donation; Connie Burcham brought in two dozen fresh eggs; and Tasha Sinclair brought in fresh vegetables from her garden. Thank you to everyone that brought us something. We really appreciate all of you.

The people making our deliveries this week were Pat Brewer, Sharon Barnes, Curt and Brenda Stein, Vernon Brickman and Janice Hood. We are so thankful for these folks who share some of their time with us to get the meals delivered.

Saturday night we had 23 come in for games and music. David Green played for us. We had a good time and enjoyed a lot of good food. Our next meet will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 12. See you there.

Well, October is almost over and before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to it. I love turkey and dressing, especially the dressing with good gravy. And that’s usually my chance for mincemeat pie. My mother always made the best pies. I especially lived her sour cream raisin pie. My son in law used to share a mincemeat pie with me at Thanksgiving but he’s gone now and I don’t need a whole pie for myself.

I think I’ve rambled enough for today. I hope you are all well, take care of yourselves. ‘Til next week …
