Hi, everyone! I hope you are all well. I know the flu is going around so be careful. I got my flu shot about three weeks ago so hopefully I’ll not get it.
Sunday was a great day at the center. The Masons held a fundraiser for the senior citizens and the Beta Club did the cooking. The food was great. It was spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread and some of the members of the senior citizens supplied desserts. If you didn’t come, you missed a great meal. I want to say a big thank you to the Masons and the Beta Club for sponsoring this. I also want to thank all those who attended the lunch. We really appreciate your support. We had a good crowd, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
We’ll be meeting on Saturday, Dec. 10, for music and games. Come on down and join in the fun. Don’t forget to bring a snack. We’ll meet from 6-9 p.m.
Our next scheduled gettogether is on Dec. 24, which I doubt we’ll do. We may get together on Saturday, Dec. 31 for New Year’s Eve. I’ll let everyone know what is decided.
Mark your calendars for Dec. 16. That’s when the ladies will be back to check blood pressure and blood sugar. They come in about 10:30 and stay until around 11:30. There is no charge for this service, and no appointment is needed. Just come in and take your turn. You do not have to be a senior citizen or a member of our group to take advantage of this service.
Those that delivered our meals on wheels last week were Pat Brewer, Sharon Barnes, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Thank you all so very much.
Bob, Gene, Angie and Rusty Matli came in and put up our Christmas tree. We’re thankful to have it to cheer up the place. A few other Christmas items got put out as well. It looks a little like Christmas now.
Margie Smith brought in some cans. Thank you, Margie. I bring some in occasionally. They seem to collect pretty quickly.
Some memorial donations were received last week. Carol McCrary’s donation was in memory of Wanda Beiland. Yvonne Christiansen’s was in memory of Roy Gale Arthur and Mary Brooks Southworth. Thank you both for these gifts.
Here is our menu for the next few days. Call us for meals to go before noon and for delivery before 10 a.m. at 623-4511. Thursday Dec. 8 – Meatloaf Friday breaded chicken breast Monday Chili and vegetable soup Tuesday Sausage and sauerkraut Wednesday Kiwanis at noon, we eat at 11:30 Thursday Dec. 15 Chicken casserole Friday Fried chicken And biscuits and gravy on Thursday mornings. All we ask is a donation for this.
I see many other places in town have raised prices considerably. We still only charge $7 for a meal. You get your meal with a salad and a dessert, plus a drink for that $7. I don’t think you can get that anywhere else for that price. Try us out, you’ll be glad you did, and you don’t have to be a senior center to come eat with us. We allow anyone to come in and eat, from babies to seniors. Come try it!
Well, that’s my news for this week. Take care of yourself and stay safe. ‘Till next week …
