On March 8 the Watonga High School band competed in Alva at the OSSAA District Concert Band and Solo/Ensemble Contest. The band received straight ‘1’ rankings in large group and a ‘1’ in sightreading.
These scores qualify the band to compete March 28 in Ada at the state level.
The solos and ensemble also had a fantastic day, with multiple ‘1’ scores.
Here are those scores: Jayden Daukei - Flute solo - 1 Kenzie Lamle - Bari sax solo - 1 Keeley Hicks/Emma Humbert - Clarinet duet 2 Heide Renteria -Trumpet solo - 1 Rita Clewell - Trumpet solo - 1 Maya O’Dell - French horn solo - 1 Zenndy Arana Trombone solo - 1 Kadan Ellison - Mallet solo - 1 Kadan Ellison - Snare solo - 2 Miles Clewell - Snare solo - 1 Those who made a ‘1’ will compete at the state level in Stillwater next month.
The parents, instructors, supporters and community are very proud of the work these students have put in this year and are excited to see what the rest of the semester brings.
