So it Begins

Thursday staff members of Zona Verde Homes were in Watonga to begin measuring the site of its first home build in the United States. Jon Bunch, vice president of sales for the company, was on hand to hang the site signage and work with the city on determining the grade for the lot, across Fourth Street from Watonga Christian Church, which donated the lot to the city for a home build. Much of the site work is to be performed by city employees, much as the site work for the water and sewer treatment work will be, in order to save both time and money. Plans are for the home to be completed in May and then to be showcased for 60 days to various towns, communities and tribal leaders who are also interested in building something similar. The home will then be put up for sale and is expected to be in the price range of $120,000. However, that price is inclusive. There will be no additional costs for flooring or appliances. Hopes are that once this home is complete, others will spring up around town as a solution to the housing crisis is exercised.
