SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi Everybody! I hope you had a great week. I hope your gardens, lawns and crops are doing well after the rain we got recently. Sounds like we could get some more on the weekend.

I failed to mention some things in last week’s news. I failed to thank all the ladies that brought in baked items for us to sell during Bikes and BBQ. We had cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, pies, cookies and coffee and iced tea to go with it. We did great and I want to thank everyone that helped in some way. Some of our ladies worked all day and others worked off and on during the day. I think we may do it again next year.

I also want to say thank you to Lawayne Flaming for the signs he made for us to advertise our sweets and coffee we sold. Thanks, Lawayne, for helping make our effort a success. We really appreciate your hard work. I hope you at least got a free cinnamon roll for your efforts!

I have an update on our plans for a defensive driving class. I understand Mary Lee Jones/State Farm Insurance has offered to cover the cost of the class. So the only cost for the participants will be a $5 charge for a book for the class. We’ve had a lot of people sign up for this class but we don’t have a date yet. We will probably have one for you next week. I believe it will be sometime in June.

Saturday night, May 13 we’ll meet to play games, eat and listen to music. Plan to come in at 6 p.m. and bring some kind of snack to share.

Last week we had D’von Poulson, Susan Shrader, Sharon Barnes Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman to carry our meals for us. Thank you very much to all of you. We appreciate you giving up your time to do this for us.

Corey Polley donated eggs to us last week. Thank you, Corey. We appreciate it.

Gene Matli made eight potholders and donated them to the center. Thank you, Gene.

Thursday the quilters met to work on the quilt in the frame. They were Judy Curtin, Louise Cooper, Estalene Teply and Gene Matli. They would be glad to have your help. They sew until about noon each Thursday.

Here is our menu for the next few days. Please call before 10 a.m. if you need a meal delivered or before noon if you want to pick up a meal to go.

Well, that’s about all my news for this week. You all take care of yourselves and stay safe. Have a great week. ‘Til next week …
