Hi, everybody. I hope you had a fun filled Fourth of July. We sure had plenty of fireworks over our way. The mosquitoes kept me indoors, though.
No news this week from the quilters. They finished the quilt they were working on so now they are waiting for the next quilt to put in the frame. Gene and Bob Matli always do that. They do a terrific job.
Remember we are having a garage sale at the center the first week of August. If you have some things you’d like to get rid of, bring them on down. We haven’t done this in a couple of years so we’re excited.
Saturday night July 8 we’ll be meeting for games, music and food. Bring some kind of snack to share with the others and come join in the fun. We meet from 6-9 p.m.
Say, if you like good mysteries to read you need to come out our library. Janet Edsall brought in a bunch of John Grisham books, and they are all large print so they are easy to read. I’m a John Grisham fan so I’ve already read all that she brought in. They are all really good. Thank you Janet, we appreciate your gift.
Sandy Maddux brought in Best Choice bar codes. Thank you, Sandy.
We received a check from the Watonga Economic Development Authority. It is part of a grant they received for the beautification of Watonga by businesses to clean up or spruce up their area. This was for the improvements to our windows and new signs. We appreciate the help with this project.
We received a donation from Lonnie Rickey in memory of Arnold Huiatt. Thank you very much, Lonnie.
Last week Peggy Franks, Sharon Barnes twice – Brenda and Curt Stein and Vernon Brickman delivered our meals on wheels. Thanks to all of you for your help.
Wow! We’re starting the second half of the year this week. Where did the first half go? It’ll be Thanksgiving and then Christmas before you know it.
Here’s our menu for the coming days. Call before 10 a.m. for a meal to be delivered and before noon for one to go.
Thursday, July 6 – Beef pot pie Friday – Indian tacos Monday – Taco salad Tuesday – chicken casserole Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.
Thursday, July 13 – Baked pork chops Friday – Chicken and noodles And we always have our biscuits and gravy on Thursday mornings. It’s ready by 8 a.m. and we only ask for a donation.
Well, that’s about all the news from the center. I sure wish more of you would come in to eat with us. We’re not bringing in enough to cover our expenses. Food and utilities are so costly today, we seem to be going in the hole each month. We’ll eventually go dry. Keep us in mind when you need a meal, we’d love to see you. ‘Til next week …
