Every Little Bit Helps: Grocery Taxes to End

The Oklahoma state tax on groceries has been eliminated. That law will take effect on August 29. It will free consumers of the 4.5 percent state grocery tax and is estimated to save the average family of four about $60 per month at the grocery store.

The same law also prevents cities and counties from enacting any new taxes on groceries until July 2025.

This will drop sales tax on groceries in Watonga to 6.88%.

However, there will still be taxes levied on restaurant meals, prepared foods purchased at a grocery or deli, dietary supplements and alcohol.
