The Watonga Eagles defeated Cordell 8-2 on Thursday thanks in part to five runs in the second inning. KJ Estep drew a walk, scoring one run, Devon Teply drew a walk, scoring one run, and Cooper House singled, scoring three runs. Watonga was the first to get on the board in the first when House singled, scoring one run. #18 doubled to left field, which helped Cordell tie the game at one in the top of the second. Watonga added one run in the third. Zac Diaz singled, making the score 7-1. Parker Roberts earned the win for Watonga. The starter gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. #4 took the loss for Cordell. The hurler went two innings, giving up six runs on three hits, striking out two and walking four. House provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Eagles with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-2 on the day. Tyshon Wilson and House each collected two hits for Watonga. Wilson stole two bases.
Watonga had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. #18, #11, and #6 each collected one hit for Cordell. #18 went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Cordell was surehanded and didn't commit a single error. #6 made the most plays with six. Watonga will travel to Crescent for the next game on Monday.
