SENIOR CENTER NEWS

By Brenda Stein

A huge thank you to the Watonga Masonic Lodge for sponsoring the chicken and noodle fundraiser at the Senior Center last Friday evening. The food was delicious and enjoyed by many. The dessert auction was phenomenal and raised a great amount of money. The cooler and damp weather did nothing to ruin the event. Again, a huge thanks to the Masons, a great group of men, and the community for participating.

April has started out with showers, which we greatly appreciate; even giving us a few snowflakes. Remember, this is Oklahoma weather! Our menu this week will keep us warm: Thursday, April 10 Meatloaf Friday Chicken Salad Sandwiches Monday Ham and Beans Tuesday Beef Pot Pie Wednesday Breaded Chicken Breast (Kiwanis Meet) Thursday, April 17 Liver and Onions Friday Fried Chicken Remember, we eat daily, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Our meals are reasonably priced at $7. Call any morning before 10 a.m. for home delivery. We serve meat, potatoes and gravy, salad, vegetable, a homemade roll, dessert and drink. Anyone of any age is invited to join us to eat.

Our deliveries last week were made by: Sharon Barnes (two days), Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood (two days) and Vernon Brickman. Many thanks to them.

Our quilter was Martha White, who also won the award for donating the most items to the dessert auction last Friday. Kudos to you, Martha!

We will be having our Saturday night Fun and Games on April 12, from 6-9 p.m. Brink a snack and enjoy card games, dominoes, pool and live music.

On Friday, April 18, the nurses from Mercy Hospital will come to check blood pressure and glucose levels at 9:45 a.m. We appreciate this free service, and all are invited to participate.

We exercise Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9- 9:45 a.m. This is a free program, and anyone can exercise at their own level. We need to keep our bodies moving and this is a great way to do it.

April 15 is rapidly approaching—this is Tax Day in the United States; it is also the anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic and the day Abraham Lincoln died. Until next week, stay healthy and be kind.
