Turney Earns 2025 Cupp Family Scholarship

Watonga High School senior Jaidon Turney has been named as the recipient of the 2025 Doris Lewis Cupp Family Memorial Scholarship. With an overall 4.0 GPA, Turney was named Valedictorian of Distinction in this year’s WHS graduating class.

She will receive a $3,000 scholarship award to support her first year of studies at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she plans to pursue a degree in nursing. At WHS, Jaidon participated in several extra-curricular activities including FFA, student council, community theater and several sports teams. Based on her academic achievement, she was selected for membership in both the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society. Turney also was selected as a delegate to attend Oklahoma Girls State following her junior year.

The Doris Lewis Cupp Family Memorial Scholarship was created by the children of Doris Cupp to honor their mother, a lifelong educator who taught at Watonga High School from 1979-1993. Each of the Cupp children graduated from WHS: Carri (1981), Dondi (1983), Kimbri (1987), Terry (1988), and Kelli and Sean (1991). Each year, the Doris Lewis Cupp Family Memorial Scholarship will recognize one or more graduating seniors who have excelled in a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities at Watonga High School.
