Wreck Claims One

According to a press release from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a collision June 3 west of Watonga took the life of a Woodward man.

The wreck took place about 7 a.m. on U.S. 270 just west of North 2470 Road, approximately nine miles west of Watonga.

Ronald Clayton Irvin , 51, of Woodward, was eastbound in a 2016 Nissan Altima when, law enforcement reported, he crossed the centerline, striking a 2021 Kenworth semi driven by Johnathan Penden, 49, of Gillette, Wyo.

Penden was uninjured. Irvin was pronounced deceased at the scene and his passenger, identified as Chrischalla Crawford, 43, of Fargo, was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City via air ambulance. She was admitted in stable condition.

Both Crawford and Irvin were pinned in the vehicle and extricated by the Eagle City Fire Department using the Hurst tool. Everyone in both vehicles was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

OHP was assisted by the Eagle City Fire Department, the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, Watonga Fire Department and AirEvac.
